Our College Student Coaches program is now entering its 14th year! We work with students from most of the colleges in Massachusetts and some outside of the state.

Our mission is to help students make the transition from High school to college as stress-free as possible. We also help existing college students who want to up their game, or who may be struggling with academic, social, or other challenges.

We do this by empowering and teaching each student the life, study and work skills and behaviors necessary to make a smooth transition from high school to college or to get to the next level in their college experience.

Key skills that a life coach for college students can focus on:

Goal Setting: Our college student coaches help students identify and set clear, realistic goals related to their academics, career, personal development, and overall well-being. Coaches can guide students in creating action plans and staying accountable.
Time Management: Assisting students in managing their time effectively to balance academic responsibilities, extracurricular activities, social life, and self-care. Coaches can teach techniques for prioritizing tasks, creating schedules, and avoiding procrastination.
Study Skills: Teaching effective study techniques, note-taking strategies, and exam preparation methods. Coaches can help students develop critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and improve their overall academic performance.
Stress Management: Providing techniques and tools to manage stress and cope with academic pressure. Coaches can teach relaxation exercises, mindfulness practices, and stress reduction strategies.
Communication Skills: Enhancing interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening, assertiveness, conflict resolution, and public speaking. Coaches can help students build confidence in expressing themselves and developing healthy relationships.
Decision Making: Assisting students in developing critical thinking skills and making informed decisions about their academic and personal lives. Coaches can guide students through the decision-making process and help them weigh pros and cons.
Emotional Intelligence: Teaching students self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, and social skills. Coaches can help students develop emotional intelligence to navigate relationships, manage emotions, and handle challenges effectively.
Career Development: Assisting students in exploring career paths, setting career goals, and developing strategies for job search, resume building, and interview preparation. Coaches can provide guidance on internships, networking, and professional development.
Confidence Building: Helping students build self-confidence and belief in their abilities. Coaches can work on identifying and challenging limiting beliefs and providing strategies to overcome self-doubt.
Self-Care and Well-being: Encouraging students to prioritize self-care, maintain a healthy work-life balance, and develop habits that support their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Coaches can guide students in setting boundaries, managing energy, and practicing self-care activities.
These are just a few examples of the skills a life coach can teach college students. The specific areas of focus may vary depending on the individual needs and goals of each student.

The Coaching Relationship

The coaching relationship is a voluntary relationship whereby the student must agree to do work between sessions and be accountable to our college student coaches.

All coaching session work is conducted via Zoom and is done weekly in 45 minute sessions. Work between sessions involves the student setting some goals and timelines for work needing to be done based on the syllabus deadlines.

The student is also able to contact the coach via text or email to report on successes or challenges between sessions.

We co-collaborate the weekly agenda, working together to create short term, solution-focused action plans so the student can prepare for quizzes, exams, papers, and presentations.

We help the student build a set of customized tools that create a foundation for success in college and for the rest of their life.

We use a personalized, holistic approach that allows for a smooth transition to college. We help the student to access support and navigate academic opportunities in an effort to reach their personal and educational goals. Our Student Success Coaches provide a crucial linkage between students and the College’s curricular and co-curricular education and connect students to resources in the community that will enhance their success.

Who We Help

Our college student coaches help kids and adults with developmental challenges such as ADHD or ADD, or those with no challenges at all. Our College Student Coaching for Success program is a great resource for modifying existing behaviors as well as just dealing with day to day pressures that can sidetrack students or make them feel overwhelmed. A College Student Success Coach will help the student to craft immediate and/or long term strategies and provide the accountability that they need.

Cost

The $1,794, 12-semester college student life coach fee, is an investment in the student’s future. They will learn skills and healthy behaviors that will benefit them far beyond the college experience.

Our students have reported that these skills and behaviors have helped them prepare to successfully navigate work, family and career life. The fee is paid in 3 monthly installments of $598.00

Our program does get filled up toward the end of the summer, if not before. So we encourage signing up early to reserve a slot. We usually do have a waitlist so that might be an option as well.
